ECGC and Glyconutrients

ECGC and glyconutrients work in consonance to enhance cell growth and rejuvenation and are found to be effective without side effects. ECGC is a form of green tea which contains epigallocatechin-3-gallate. ECGC work as an antioxidant; and along with glyconutrients help the communication of brain cells and prevent oxidation of protein molecules in cells. Oxidation is a biological contradiction. While most biological functions require oxygen the high reactive tendency of oxygen can cause biochemical problems. Oxygen reacts with molecules within cells causing degeneration. Dementia and Stroke are often found to be the result of oxidants in the brain cells.

A recent study by the University of South Florida has found that the anti oxidant property or ECGC in green tea is able to effectively fight damage to brain nerves and symptoms of dementia and strokes are slowly and efficiently minimized. The properties of green tea as a natural anti oxidation agent is 100 times more effective as compared to Vitamin C and 25 times more effective when compared to vitamin E. The study also showed that green tea has properties to deter the growth of malignant tumors. ECGC contained in green tea along with other glyconutrients helps cells communicate effectively to prevent an, ‘out of hand’ growth of cells caused by communication gaps between them.

This combination of anti oxidation of proteins and effective communication enhancement between cells is seen to be a potent treatment for neurological diseases and cancer. Medical science now knows that many chronic and fatal conditions are caused by miscommunication or non communication of cells.

You may wonder why the body needs an anti oxidant like ECGC to act in consonance with glyconutrients to effectively combat the degeneration of cells. If the body loses its anti oxidant functions, the oxygen which is a potent molecule combines with unstable reactive groups of cell molecules called radicals. These radicals become hyper active when combined with oxygen and result in limiting communication between cells. This lack or minimizing of communication between healthy cells causes their deterioration. ECGC is commercially available in a green tea based supplement called ‘Mega ECGC’ . This brand of ECGC supplement is considered the most potent containing 290 mg of ECGC.

‘Prohealth’ manufactures a supplement called Green Tea Pure. It contains green tea combined with the Himalayan Goggi berry. This combination of the ECGC in Green Tea and the Glyconutrients present in the Himalayan Goggi Berry have shown in some patients the same effect of the chemotherapic agent Methotexate used in the treatment of cancer with none of its side effects. Methotexate and Green Tea Pure have shown the same capability of inhibiting cancerous fast growing cells but patients who feel nausea and discomfort after a course of Methotexate do not feel these side effects with Green Tea Pure. There are several other antioxidant and glyconutrients combined commercially available supplements.

ECGC derived from Green Tea and used as an anti oxidant has not yet been given medical sanction as a substance that cures. Glycobiological research has attained impetus only in the 1990s and has a long way to go before being acceptable as a complete and reliable treatment that uses nutritional food as a disease fighter. Supplements containing natural antioxidants or a combination of antioxidants and glyconutrients do not find a place as symptom relievers in medical journals of repute. Patients should take these supplements with due regard to the disclaimer they carry under law that they are possible health helpers but not absolute cures.
